Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
SHAR is currently in private beta. This policy describes how we handle your data today and will be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before general availability. If anything here is unclear, contact us before connecting a data source.
1. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information SHAR collects when you use our app and website, why we collect it, how it is used to generate your insights, and the controls you have over it. It applies to the SHAR mobile app, the website at getshar.app, and any connected integrations you enable.
2. Information we collect
Account information
Name, email address, and authentication details when you create an account.
Health and fitness data
With your explicit consent, data synced from connected sources such as WHOOP and Oura (recovery, HRV, sleep, heart rate, strain), plus anything you log directly: meals, macros, training sessions, body weight, and hydration.
Usage data
Basic technical information about how you use the app and website — device type, approximate location from IP address, and interaction events — used to keep the product working and to understand which features matter.
3. How we use your data
- To generate your daily briefings and AI Insights, by reading your signals against each other.
- To sync and reconcile data from the wearables and services you connect.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app and website.
- To communicate with you about your account, product updates, or beta feedback.
- To meet legal, security, and fraud-prevention obligations.
SHAR does not sell your health data. It is used to run the product for you, and for no other commercial purpose.
4. AI Insights and automated processing
SHAR uses automated analysis to link your signals — sleep, recovery, training, nutrition and weight — and surface what changed and why. These insights describe patterns in your own data. They are not a medical diagnosis, and SHAR is not a medical device.
5. Connected integrations
When you connect WHOOP, Oura, or a future integration, you authorize SHAR to pull specific data types from that provider under their own terms. You can disconnect any integration at any time from within the app, which stops future syncing; previously synced data is handled per your deletion settings below.
6. Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, so your insights and trends remain accurate. You can export or permanently delete your data at any time from the app settings. Deletion removes your data from active systems within 30 days, subject to residual copies in backups that age out on our standard backup rotation.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Withdraw consent for a connected integration at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Data security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices — to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we will notify affected users if a breach materially affects their data, as required by law.
9. Children
SHAR is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SHAR moves from private beta toward general availability. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email before they take effect.
11. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to hello@getshar.app.
